Who will win the Green Challenge 2017?
The jury of the Green Challenge announced 25 nominees out of 515 entries. This is an increase of 75% compared to last year when 292 start-ups submitted their sustainable business plan.
The 25 nominees have a chance of winning the grand prize of EUR 500,000 to bring to market their product or service that helps combat climate change. The Netherlands is represented by seven start-ups in the list of nominees, And we are delighted to see that there are 3 Dutch Climate-KIC nominees:
- Lightyear – with the successor of the electric car
- PeelPioneers – turning citrus waste into value-added resources
- Tocano – revolutionary inkless printers.
Last year Climate-KIC start-up PHYSEE, who developed the PowerWindow – a fully transparent energy-generating window, won the Green Challenge.
In 2 months time we know who the winner is of this years competition, we wish all our teams lots of luck!
On August 15, the preliminary jury of the Green Challenge will announce which five finalists will be invited to Amsterdam to pitch their plan before an internationally acclaimed jury as well as a large, enthusiastic audience on 14 September.
