Start-up PeelPioneers winner of Young Environmental Award and Floriade Werkt!
Climate-KIC start-up PeelPioneers, who converts citrus peels into valuable raw materials, received this month 2 awards! The young start-up won the Floriade Werkt! challenge and the Young Environmental Award.
The Young Impact Award is a prize for young people who reduce the plastic soup in oceans or improve animal welfare. The nominees all made an effort for a green and sustainable world. These awards were awarded for the first time this year. Sytze van Stempvoort (22) of PeelPioneers has been named winner in the category Young Environmental Award. In total, approximately 10,000 young people were present at the first edition of the Young Environmental Awards in Amsterdam.
Floriade Werkt! is an initiative of the Province of Flevoland. Entrepreneurs and enterprising students could submit their innovative solutions on how they are able to provide the world’s population with sustainable nutrition in 2050. On June 1, Floriade Werkt! announced the 3 Winners. PeelPioneers won in the category Student Entrepreneur. Next to a financial contribution and the chance to realize this innovation with a team of experts, PeelPioneers will present their innovation to the world during Floriade 2022 in Almere.
PeelPioneers is currently in Stage 1 of the Climate-KIC Accelerator.
Climate-KIC supports start-ups like PeelPioneers to accelerate their climate innovative ideas into great businesses. Climate-KIC Accelerator is the only European acceleration programme focused on climate impact by cleantech commercialization.
